Salah simulator — practise prayer step by step
Khatawa is a free, interactive Salah simulator that walks you through prayer one movement at a time — so you can learn by doing, not just by reading. Follow a guided figure through each position while the words appear on screen in Arabic, transliteration and English meaning.
What the simulator does
- Guided step by step — an animated figure shows every posture: standing, bowing, prostrating and sitting.
- The words, your way — show Arabic, transliteration, the meaning, or any combination, and the text resizes to fill the screen.
- Real recitation — hear each phrase, with word-by-word highlighting that follows the audio.
- Auto or Manual — let it advance by itself at a Slow, Normal or Fast pace, or move at your own tap.
- Aloud or silent cues — it shows which parts are said out loud and which are said silently.
- All five prayers — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha, each with the right number of rak’ahs.
Learn by practising
Reading how to pray is a start, but prayer is something you do. The simulator lets you rehearse the full sequence as many times as you like, at a pace that suits you, until it becomes familiar. When you are ready, you simply pray along with it.
Before you start
You will also find a guided Wudu walkthrough, a live Qibla compass, and the full how to pray Salah reference. New to prayer? Everything works with no account and no cost.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Salah simulator free?
Yes. Khatawa is a free, nonprofit guide. There is no sign-up, no payment and no app to install — it runs in your browser.
Can I practise at my own pace?
Yes. You can set it to Manual and move step by step with a tap, or use Auto at a Slow, Normal or Fast pace so it advances by itself.
Does it cover all five daily prayers?
Yes — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha, each with the correct number of rak’ahs and the right aloud or silent recitation.
Do I need to know Arabic to use it?
No. Every phrase is shown in Arabic with a transliteration (how to say it) and the English meaning, and you can hear the recitation, so you can follow along from the very beginning.
